TEXTBOOK & REQUIRED MATERIALS

REQUIRED SOFTWARE LICENSE: MyLab Math, from Pearson

For this course you are required to have paid access to MyLab Math from Pearson Publishing.  Getting started you will need to register for MyLab Math as soon as possible.

Purchase Options:

  • 18-week (one semester) license for around $70.  This option is available through the Valencia Bookstore (online bookstore right now) or from the Pearson MyLab website.  Follow the registration instructions and use a credit card or PayPal to complete the purchase.  This is the recommended purchase option for most students.
  • 24-month (two-years) license for around $105. This option is available through the Valencia Bookstore (online bookstore right now) or from the Pearson MyLab website.  The text is  used for both MGF1106 and MGF1107, so if you plan on taking the other course at Valencia (West) this would be the best option.  Otherwise, the only real benefit of this option is insurance should you fail to complete the course this semester.
  • If you are repeating the course and have already paid for MyLab Math (24-month) with the Angel text, follow the instructions in the registration handout to link to your MyLab account and add this course.
  • If you cannot pay for the software license right away, you still need to register and get started right away! Choose the free trial period so that you don’t fall behind (or get dropped from the class as a “no show.”)  The free trial only last for two weeks, so plan accordingly.  You will need to pay using one of the options listed above once the trial period expires.

Textbook

Included with your MyLab Math access is an eText version of the textbook A Survey of Mathematics with Applications, 11th edition, by Angel/Abbott/Runde.  You will not be required to purchase a physical copy of the text.
