Tips for A.A. Degree-seeking Students Term-by-Term Plan

If you plan to complete an A.A degree at Valencia, you should have the following information when creating your term-by-term plan:

Here is some important thing to know about term-by-term plan:

- General Education classes cover five areas, with classes falling into two categories: Core or Institutional.
  - Review the General Education Program Requirements section of the current catalog for a complete list of all areas and the classes that must be completed from the Core and/or Institutional list.

- - Then, review your Degree Pathways information (if available) for additional insight into how you create a term-by-term plan related to your intended bachelor's degree.

- Remember to take classes related to your intended bachelor's degree as part of your Elective Requirements. For example, Common Program Prerequisites for your intended bachelor's degree would be great classes to take at Valencia College. Check the Course Descriptions section of the current catalog to confirm the availability of classes at Valencia.

Common Program Prerequisites from Degree Pathways in the catalog

- Always compare the courses from your undergraduate catalog requirements and Degree Pathways to those needed for your A.A. degree. Focus on 1000 and 2000 level classes (e.g. 1121 or 2041); do not include 3000 or 4000-level classes. You will complete the 3000 and 4000 level classes when you transfer to your future university or college.

Students who plan to complete an Associate in Arts degree are required to meet the foreign language requirement. There are two (2) ways to meet the Foreign Language Requirement:
- Successfully complete two credits (two years) of the same foreign language in high school. If you complete two years of foreign language in high school (other than English), you must submit official high school transcripts.

OR

- Complete 8 credit hours with a "C" or better of the same foreign language as college-level electives.
