Welcome to General Biology 1010C at Valencia College. In this course you will experience all that it is the wonderful world of biology! Life and all living organisms are pretty unique and amazing and we will experience this by studying the incredible intricacies of our cells and how our unique DNA dictates our beings and all the beings in nature. As an introductory biology course, this class provides an overview of the fundamental principles of biological science. Through lectures and laboratory experiments and/or animations, we will emphasize and unify common attributes of all living organisms. Topics addressed include the nature of science, the scientific method, chemical structure of living matter, cell structure and function of the cell, cell communication, human and plant metabolism, DNA structure and gene expression, cancer and gene mutations, sexual reproduction, and genetics.
